Give Dubai A Hug

Dubai, UAE, 29th January 2008- Local charity START, which utilises art as a means to educate and empower the younger generation in the Middle East, is launching an annual day to celebrate community spirit on February 14th 2008 at the Creek at Dubai Cultural Council’s ‘Art Avenue’. From 5pm until 10pm, the day will be filled with activities a family can do together.

February 14th is an internationally recognised day to display heart-felt affection for your loved ones so why not join us in celebrating it and show kindness to the whole community this Valentine’s Day?

‘Give Dubai a Hug’ offers companies and individuals fun and pro-active ways to show their affection to those in need within the local community.

For companies? ‘Give Dubai a Hug’ will be an annual time to publicly pledge a focus to philanthropy and announce their corporate social responsibility intentions to the local community.

For charities? ‘Give Dubai a Hug’ is a day to showcase what they do and raise awareness in the local community about how they can be helped effectively or can offer help.

For individuals? It is an encouragement to give practical skills and personal time to charities in Dubai. This is about raising awareness not fundraising.

This year to launch the initiative, START will be at the Creek at Dubai Cultural Council’s ‘Art Avenue’ painting a 12foot canvas with families and companies who attend. The canvas will then be donated to the Paediatrics Congenital Heart defects ward at Al Wasl Hospital.

A ‘Give Dubai a Hug’ day paper chain will also be made with one figure representing each person in Dubai who wants to put a little love and happiness back into the community. Come and make this paper chain stretch the length of Art Avenue!
